The history behind the celebration of Black History Month

Maryland Teamsters demand passage of bill regulating driverless vehicles
Feb. 11, 2025 | Teamsters are calling on the Maryland House of Delegates to pass House Bill 439 (HB 439), which would require a human operator in any vehicle over 10,000 pounds. “HB 439 is about saving good jobs from greedy tech executives who only care about profits,” said Sean Cedenio, President of Teamsters Joint Council 62. “If our elected officials in Maryland want the support of Teamsters and the voting public at large, they should stand with us as we fight to protect the middle class.” Read the full press release here.
Yellow Corporation bankruptcy update
Feb. 13, 2025 | The Union is currently awaiting the Bankruptcy Judge’s decision on two remaining issues regarding Yellow’s WARN Act liability. Local Unions will be immediately notified when a decision is rendered and its significance to employee recovery. Teamsters support Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Secretary of Labor

Teamsters strike 10 Roads Express across 8 states
Feb. 18, 2025 | More than 500 Teamsters drivers at 10 Roads Express, one of the largest private contractors for the United States Postal Service (USPS), have been forced to strike across eight states over the company’s unfair labor practices and refusal to bargain in good faith. Despite the critical role these drivers play in keeping mail moving across the country, 10 Roads has continued to present an insulting and unrealistic contract proposal. Learn more here.
Hertz Teamsters in Texas, Florida end strikes, ratify contracts
Feb. 20, 2025 | Hertz Teamsters at the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Airport and Palm Beach International (PBI) Airport have ratified new collective bargaining agreements, successfully ending their strikes. The new three-year agreements include wage increases, improved vacation language, and tool allowances for mechanics, among other gains. “This strike wasn’t just about wages — it was about respect, better working conditions, and securing a future for all of us,” said Ebony Mason, a chief steward at Hertz and member of Local 745. “We fought, we held the line, and we won real improvements that will benefit every member.” Learn more here.
Omni Air Teamsters vote to authorize strike
Feb. 25, 2025 | Teamsters pilots at Omni Air International have voted by an overwhelming 99% margin to authorize strikes. The vote grants the union’s leadership the authority to call strikes when Omni or its parent company ATSG implement unilateral changes to working conditions without following the legally required process. It comes one year after pilots voted unanimously to call a strike once released from negotiations by the National Mediation Board. The 350 pilots are represented by the Airline Professionals Association-Teamsters Local 1224. Learn more here.
