Teamster carhaul carrier aims to get into the LTL freight industry
Sept 3, 2024  |  Jack Cooper, which operates the largest Teamster carhaul carrier intends to get into the LTL freight industry by purchasing Standard Forwarding from DHL. The IBT has notified members that DHL intends to sell it, and has agreed that the union contract will remain intact. Jack Cooper is determined to break into the freight industry. Their attempt to acquire part of Yellow Freight was stymied by Yellow management, which preferred to sell of the carrier for parts and prevent any continued operation. Why this matters: Local 355 represent carhaul industry Teamsters in the Baltimore area.

Hundreds of Amazon delivery drivers in NY join Teamsters
Sept. 16, 2024 | Hundreds of Amazon delivery drivers at one of the company’s New York facilities joined the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the union announced Monday, marking the latest escalation of organizing efforts in its logistics network. The drivers work for three contracted delivery firms out of an Amazon facility known as DBK4, located in New York’s Queens neighborhood. The drivers work for Cornucopia Logistics, DnA Logistics and Champion Logistics, a Teamsters spokesperson said. Learn more

O’Brien indicates a presidential endorsement may be announced Wednesday
Sept. 17, 2024 | Vice President Kamala Harris held a sometimes tense meeting with Teamsters leaders on Monday, defending the Biden administration’s labor policies against pointed questions and concluding with a promise that she would win the presidency and treat the union fairly with or without its backing… After the meeting, Mr. O’Brien said that he still needed time to consider the union’s next move. Teamsters: No endorsement for U.S. president
Sept. 18, 2024 | The General Executive Board of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters on Wednesday elected not to endorse any candidate for U.S. President. After reviewing six months of nationwide member polling and wrapping up nearly a year of rank-and-file roundtable interviews with all major candidates for the presidency, the union was left with few commitments on top Teamsters issues from either former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris—and found no definitive support among members for either party’s nominee. Full press release

Teamster polling for presidential endorsement available for review
Sept. 24, 2024 | All rank-and-file Teamsters poll data on the U.S. Presidential endorsement, including methodology, is available at Teamster.org for all participating local unions and Joint Council affiliates. Poll results are organized by U.S. state and affiliate.
