Hollywood came under scrutiny as the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) opened hearings into alleged Communist influence within the motion picture industry. Dozens of union members were among those blacklisted following as a result of HUAC’s activities.

Feb. 20, 2012 | An award of $8,000 in financial assistance to 2 college-bound students will be offered at our monthly meeting in May in Baltimore. Selected in a random drawing, the annual awards are presented to sons and daughters of Teamsters Local 355 members for use in pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university of the student's choice.
