Today in 1983
 A nine-year strike, the longest in the history of the United Auto Workers, began at the Division of Park-Ohio Industries Inc. in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio. During the strike the company lost nearly $50 million, $34.5 in 1992 alone. Despite scabs, arrests and firings, UAW Local 91 members hung tough and in 1992 won and signed a new three year agreement.

Supreme Court backs Starbucks Over Fired Pro-Union Workers

June 13, 2024 | LEGAL | The U.S. Supreme Court sided on Thursday with Starbucks in the coffee chain's challenge to a judicial order to rehire seven Memphis employees fired as they sought to unionize in a ruling that could make it harder for courts to quickly halt labor practices contested as unfair under federal law. The justices unanimously threw out a lower court's approval of an injunction sought by the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ordering Starbucks to reinstate the workers while the agency's in-house administrative case against the Seattle-based company proceeds.
