 The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce held a mass meeting of more than 2,000 merchants to organize what was to become a frontal assault on union strength and the closed shop. The failure of wages to keep up with inflation after the 1906 earthquake had spurred multiple strikes in the city.

Teamsters Local 355 Mourns Passing of Brother Jim Deene

May 21, 2019 | Teamsters Local 355 officers, staff and members are mourning the sudden loss of Jim Deene, a business agent for Teamsters Local 355 in Baltimore, Md., who passed away suddenly on May 17, 2019. Deene began his Teamster career as a driver for U.S. Foodservice. He served as a Local 355 shop steward from 1997 until 2002, when he became a business agent for the Local. Friends may visit Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm in the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 11 am in Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville, MD 21108. The family has advised us that those who wish to can make a donation to the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company, Hartly, DE 19953.
