TA Reached at Nations’ First Unionized Apple Store
Posted On: Jul 29, 2024
July 29, 2024 | BARGAINNING | An Apple store in Towson, which was the nation’s first unionized location, has reached a tentative labor agreement with the company. In addition to raising pay, the offering will improve scheduling, job security and disciplinary practices all while maintaining current benefits, the workers’ union, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Coalition of Organized Retail Employees, announced Friday. The store’s roughly 85 employees will vote on the agreement Aug. 6. Workers will earn scheduling protections, a severance option and improved disciplinary processes over the three-year period the agreement covers. It will also avail employees of 10% on average raises over the course of the contract and increase starting pay for 80% of roles. The Towson location became the first to organize in the country in June 2022. The Baltimore Sun
