Why is Corporate America Decimating White-Collar Workers?

As the saying goes, history isn’t exactly repeating itself, but it is rhyming with Amazon’s move to slash 10 percent of its white-collar workforce in a desperate attempt to boost margins. [And UPS,] in their most recent earnings call — moments after announcing profits of $7.9 billion for 2025 — the package giant’s executives bragged to investors about laying off white-collar workers and snickered about its illegal buyout programs aimed at rank-and-file Teamsters.
