Successor contract overwhelmingly approved by Dow Jones members
Mar. 1, 2025 | Local 355 Vice President and Business Agent John Moylan reports Teamster members employed at Dow Jones & Company overwhelmingly ratified a new three year successor contract. The new agreement provides wage increases every year of the contract, with an average wage increase of 10% in the first year of the contract. It also provides two additional paid holidays, protection of jobs, and a new trainee program designed to provide job instruction and education to new hires. Dow Jones publishes The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and other business and financial publications.

Mar. 3, 2025 | For the past 51 years, our Local has offered two scholarships to children and stepchildren of Local 355 members who seek to fulfill their dreams through higher education. Applications are now available for our 51st Annual Scholarships to be awarded during the May 2025 regular monthly membership meeting. Eligibility requirements: You must be in continuous good standing in Local 355 for 12 consecutive months before May 2025, and your student must be a graduating senior this year. Teamsters support Faster Labor Contracts Act
Mar. 4, 2025 | The Teamsters Union commends Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) for introducing the Faster Labor Contracts Act, which would require employers to collectively bargain with newly organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union. The legislation is co-sponsored by Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI), Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR). The Faster Labor Contracts Act would amend the National Labor Relations Act to create a clear timetable to securing a first union contract.

Teamsters’ WARN claims against Yellow fall short 
Mar. 5, 2025 | Read this important update from the union.]  A federal bankruptcy court in Delaware found that Yellow Corp. is not liable for a failure to provide 60 days’ notice to roughly 22,000 union employees ahead of mass layoffs in the summer of 2023. It ruled the company was a “liquidating fiduciary” winding down affairs and not an employer at the time the layoffs were ordered, releasing it from liability. Learn more here.

United Airline Teamsters rally while voting on UA’s ‘insulting’ proposal
Mar. 13, 2025 | As 10,000 United Airline Teamsters nationwide vote on the company’s latest insulting proposal, Teamsters Local 856 held a rally outside United’s San Francisco Maintenance Base on Thursday. United Airlines Teamsters are united in their fight from coast to coast for a transformative contract at the carrier that includes the highest wages in the industry, a faster wage progression for newer technicians, and the return of maintenance work from foreign repair stations. US Foods Teamsters in California ratify their first contract
Mar. 17, 2025 | Nearly 200 Teamsters drivers at US Foods in Livermore, Calif., represented by Local 853, ratified a first contract that will strengthen pay and benefits. The three-year agreement comes after members successfully organized a week-long strike. Local 853 members secured a 13 percent wage increase, improved safety, paid administrative leave, and substantial savings in health care. More at Teamsters on Facebook.

Teamsters ratify first cannabis contract in Maryland
Mar. 19, 2025 | Budtenders and shift leaders at Ascend in Aberdeen, Md., have ratified their first collective bargaining agreement, making them the first cannabis workers in the state to be covered by a Teamsters contract. The new Local 570 collective bargaining agreement guarantees the workers increases in wages, job security, paid time off, and safety improvements. Teamsters already have a strong track record of securing strong contracts for Ascend workers in Illinois and Michigan. The workers organized with Teamsters Local 570 in Baltimore last year. Standing strong: Teamsters at 10 Roads Express mark one month on strike
Mar. 24, 2025 | Teamsters at 10 Roads Express have been on strike since February 18. The strike is a national effort which includes over 500 workers across eight states. 10 Roads Express workers are on strike because they say that the company has refused to bargain in good faith with the union during their ongoing round of contract negotiations. No wage increases have been offered, and union members say their wages are not currently competitive within the industry. The trucking company primarily contracts with the post office to carry mail. Members at US Foods in Delaware approve new contract
Mar. 31, 2025 | Drivers employed at US Foods in Harrington, Delaware, have ratified a successor contract that provides substantial wage increases: The minimum daily guarantee will increase 17% and the delay time will increase more than 33% over the agreement's three year term. Contract highlights include stronger shop steward language, enhanced bereavement leave, improvements in vacation accrual, increased contributions to maintain health benefits, additional money for a boot allowance, and stronger safety language and strike language. “Our union bargaining committee worked long and hard getting this deal done,” said Business Agent and Local Vice President John Moylan. “The result of their hard work shows in this new contract.”
