Treasury Employees Union Sues Trump Administration Over Executive Order
Posted On: Feb 03, 2025
Feb. 3, 2025 | FEDERAL WORKERS | The National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) has filed suit against the Trump administration over an executive order re-instituting his controversial excepted service hiring authority, Schedule F, to include any career federal job connected to federal policy. The order would convert federal nonpartisan career jobs into political favors for loyalists. It is unlawful and undermines the nation’s merit-based civil service, the union asserts. “Reclassifying large numbers of employees … with the intent of making them at-will employees is contrary to Congress’s intent in establishing broad protections for most federal employees,” the lawsuit filed Jan. 20 states. The union represents about 50,000 federal workers across 37 agencies. The Labor Tribune
