Congress Inches Closer to Vote to Overturn Union-Busting Orders

Sept. 22, 2025 | WORKERS’ RIGHTS | Momentum is growing in the fight to overturn President Trump’s illegal and destructive directives stripping collective bargaining rights from most federal employees. On Sept. 17, Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia led a bipartisan coalition of 48 U.S. senators in introducing legislation that would overturn President Trump’s March executive order stripping more than 1 million federal workers of their collective bargaining rights, as well as a second executive order Trump issued in August extending the directive to tens of thousands of employees at other agencies. “President Trump’s March executive order stripping most of the federal workforce of collective bargaining rights represents the single most aggressive action taken by the federal government against organized labor in U.S. history…” AFGE
