 About 1,400 unionized workers represented by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) walked off the job at four major U.S. cereal plants (in Battle Creek, Michigan; Omaha, Nebraska; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Memphis, Tennessee). The strike lasted 11 weeks over disputes regarding a two-tier wage and benefit system before a successful new contract was ratified in December 2021.
