 Sept. 14, 2026 | MONTANA TEAMSTERS | Montana is, for all intents and purposes, a red state in 2026. The Republican Party has the governorship, a supermajority in the Senate, and a majority in the lower chamber. Democrats haven’t won a statewide election since 2018, and the senator who did win that race, John Tester, lost six years later. Yet, Montana hasn’t been taken over by union busters. It’s not a “right to work” state. Public sector workers have collective bargaining rights. Unlike many states with anti-union governors, unions don’t have to go through unnecessary bureaucratic rigmarole for dues deductions or bargaining unit certifications, nor does the state government punish employers who work with unions by revoking tax incentives. The reason? Montana has a labor movement that works closely with both parties, and it’s led by the Teamsters. Continued at Just Cause Teamsters
