There, he is greeted by Tapeko, a longtime co-worker. ... Andy is an animal care specialist for marine mammals at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. He has been with the zoo for 31 years. For the past 27 years, one of the first to greet him each morning has been Tapeko, a 1,000-plus-pound Atlantic bottlenose dolphin and, as Andy affectionately calls her, his “work wife.” ...This past May, Andy and other dedicated Brookfield Zoo professionals were forced to go on strike.
