A bitter legal battle is underway between the Local Union and Anne Arundel County over the County’s unilateral elimination of a cost-of-living increase and merit raise as provided for in the Union’s 2007-2010 contract with the County. A circuit court judge has scheduled a hearing for Monday, September 20, in Annapolis.
Local 355 represents 58 Anne Arundel County Deputy Sheriffs, and although a new contract is in place with no wage increases and few gains in benefits, the Union filed a lawsuit last spring over the County’s refusal to meet on the Union’s grievance regarding the contractual wage obligations to Teamster employees in the previous contract. The dispute details.
