| Recession taking toll on ABF; union seeks input from leaders, members
Despite a history of prudent business decisions that allowed it to carry little debt and maintain adequate cash reserves, ABF has suffered an unprecedented drop in shipments and revenues since late 2008 coinciding with the near collapse of the entire U.S. economy.
The carrier has been public about it's desire to open up the National Master Freight Agreement. While the International has heard ABF’s requests to fully understand its position, it has not entered or begun discussions. In order to determine its next steps, the Union is seeking input from local leaders, and ABF members are encouraged to join a call to ask questions Thursday, March 18 at 8:30 pm. Details and call-in info here.
