“Battle of Wall Street,” police charge members of the United Financial Employees’ Union, striking against the New York Stock Exchange and New York Curb Exchange (now known as the American Stock Exchange). Sept. 25, 2017 | WAR ON WORKERS | The president is keeping federal wages down, enraging public unions and their allies. On August 31, in an executive action that went largely unremarked upon, Donald Trump slashed automatic annual wage increases for most federal workers in 2018 from an expected 1.9 percent across the board, with substantial additional boosts for workers in certain locations, to just 1.4 percent across the board... At first blush, the cut looks tiny, especially compared to the senseless severity of Trump’s 2018 budget proposal.
